The IQ-Table was featured at the 2014 African Studies Association (ASA) Annual Meeting in Indianapolis. UITS staff worked with staff from the Mathers Museum of World Culture to prepare a new digital collection of existing African clothing for display on the interactive Table.

The Table and digital collection were extremely popular at the 2014 meeting. Collectively, they demonstrated IU’s ability to merge the digital humanities and state-of-the-art information technology. Visitors were encouraged to create their own IQ-Table and accompanying media collections. Both the hardware recipe and software program is available for sharing.

The ASA ( is a professional association composed of academics from about every discipline. About 2,000 people attend the annual meeting held in October. The IQ-Table was placed in an open area of the exhibition hall where publishers and other organizations demonstrate products and professional work. The newly prepared collection utilized AVL's Collection Viewer software which was built on Open Exhibits.

IU's Advanced Visualization Lab is funded through the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology; is a unit of UITS Research Technologies; and is affiliated with the Pervasive Technology Institute. For questions about this project or to request a consultation, please contact
