Visualizing data from Vortex2

The visualization unfolds the daily location of a regional weather forecast done in support of Vortex2 field effort that took place May-June 2010. Brighter bars reflect a forecast (roughly state in size, and good for 1 day) that had a National Weather Service issued tornado warning issued for the time in which the forecast was valid. In other words, the D2I-Vortex2 team thought the weather would be severe in that region on that day, and where it was as confirmed by the National Weather Service the bar is brighter!

The Linked Environments for Atmospheric Discovery (LEAD) II system, a cyberinfrastructure platform available through the IU Data to Insight Center, will produce on-the-hour weather forecasts and create up to 600 weather images each day that will be delivered to mobile devices carried in the field by the VORTEX2 storm chasers.

Futuregrid Project Kickoff

M.E.A.P. Minority Engineering Advancement Program

The Minority Engineering Advancement Program (M.E.A.P) is a a summer workshop for children grades 6 through 12.  MEAP provides an opportunity for students that are interested in math and science to explore educational and career paths for engineering and technology fields. Students have fun while being introduced to many university and industry areas and participating in hands-on projects and activities.  The workshop is designed for students that are underrepresented in engineering and technology careers.
